Updated: May 24, 2022

In addition to the common symptoms of perimenopause (hot flashes, mood swings, tiredness, stress, fatigue, vaginal dryness, and itching), a woman may also experience vaginal bleeding and mood swings. Among the health complications that can be experienced after menopause are osteoporosis and heart disease.

What is osteoporosis? Osteoporosis is a condition that is characterized by loss in bone density. Bones become weakened and prone to fractures. Bone density in a woman begins to drop at age 35, and this loss accelerates after menopause. The risks of osteoporosis are increased by:

  • lack of physical activity

  • deficiency of CALCIUM AND VITAMIN D in the daily diet

  • smoking and alcohol abuse

  • rheumatoid arthritis

  • underweight

  • family history of osteoporosis

Heart disease

Heart disease is a condition that affects the proper functioning of the heart. For example:

  • Arteries affected or atrophied by cholesterol and/or triglycerides

  • Problems with valves when not properly regulating blood flow to the heart

  • Cardiomyopathy is an irregularity in the contraction of the heart muscles

  • Arrhythmias

  • Infections to the heart

How to take care of your heart and bones?

If there are cases of heart disease in your family, it is important to be more careful with your heart. In addition, it's important to keep an eye on your blood pressure and cholesterol levels.

One of the most valuable treasures you have in your life is health. It is very important to maintain a healthy lifestyle, take care of your diet, use vitamins and minerals, and stay physically active.
